Man or ?

I've been following a thread recently on the phenomina in Second Life of women taking on male personas.

As it started I tried very hard to be open minded, to be progressive rather than one of those staunch whiners that was against anything new that is never specifically mentioned in a book. Hard as I tried to be accepting in the end I found myself aggravated by the idea, irritated even.

I have been trying in vain to explain what it is exactly that irritates me so much about this trend all night and I thought perhaps this would be the place to just get it all out into the open.

I will be the first to say that yes I am intimidated by it, but not because I think they can do it better than me. It's because I know for fact that alot of these women have slave alts on the same sim that they are playing these men on and they get to sit and listen to the banter amongst other slaves, get the girl chat about what these other girls desire and take that right back to their male alt and use it.

I know I know, slaves are supposed to tell their owners everything but let's be practical about this rather than philisophical for a change. If a woman doesn't trust someone, she isn't going to tell them her inner most desires or even her fleeting desires of the moment. She is more apt however to tell another woman, just as men are more apt to tell certain things to other men but not to women. So in the end you have them getting basically the inside scoop and then changing over to their male alt and using this information to appear to have insight into the minds and workings of women; when in fact they are simply drawing on information gained in confidence and their own feminine desires.

Secondly I see alot of telling women what they want to hear, romancing them into collars rather than dominating them into collars. It's difficult as I write this to get my feelings into print because it can come off sounding like macho egotism and it's not at all my concerns are genuine and not self centered. When you romance a woman into a collar your not dominating her there, your just painting a flowery fantasy to acheive a false sense of something that can be very real and beautiful if done properly.

Despite all the flowery words being spoken about loving the stories that are being created there is a great deal of trickery being woven in to emulate dominance and no matter what some might say to justify there is a population of women at large that come to Gor to be dominated, in the end it's not myself that I am concerned for but them. I am concerned because they come here looking for something and think they are getting it when in fact they aren't, they're just being duped. I've had several close friends hurt now by this trend and the people doing it are still screaming that it's just RP despite taking girls back to their private houses, dressing in earth clothes, taking them shopping for lingerie, the list goes on.

Your right I am intimidated. I have to deal with being a man, the complexities of dominating a woman and I have to do it with what I was given and now I have to compete with slave girls getting the chatter gossip and making friends with other women only to go on their male alts and pursue these women with their bit of insider knowledge as if they were trying to prove that they were better at being a man than the genuine article.

Someone said that they will take an enthusiastic facsimile over nothing and I still stand by what I said, you are gladly lowering your standards because you are too impaitent to be picky.
